Welcome to my listing! Show your garden some love and add some fun to your lawn with this hand crafted rusty metal hippo garden sculpture! This hippo sculpture will look very amusing emerging from your lawn as if its submerged in water. It will make you and your visitors smile every time you see it in your garden and it will also add a quirky focal point to your lawn. The hippo is hand crafted by myself to ensure the finest quality, so they make wonderful hippo gifts! I use expensive materials to create my hippos including resin, iron powder and special patina solutions to accelerate the rusting process to achieve the desired finish of each piece. Much time is taken to prepare the hippo garden ornaments for the finishing process, as they are buffed up to a shine by hand and then a special solution is then applied to create the finished rusty patina. The rusty patina is not sealed, in this un-sealed state it is know as a living patina, meaning that the rust can continue to develop over time and will look even more natural as it weathers outdoors. My hippos are cast using the cold cast iron method so the colour you see on the hippo in the pictures above isnt a paint effect! It is actually REAL RUST! Iron powder is mixed in to the resin to achieve the look of real rusty metal at a fraction of the weight and cost compared to using traditional metal casting methods. This makes these look just like the real thing but they cost you much less, and because they are hollow cast they are much lighter and easier to move around when maintaining your garden.
